Class Information

Tuition: All classes start at $30 per month. (Family discounts & mulit class enrolment specials avalible upon request.)

Class placement: All new students are required to attend a “Level I” class in their age range. In the event a “level I” class at their age is not offered; will need to attend a younger age class for “level I” or request a “pre-placement audition*”.

Why have a “placement period”? I am sure you will agree that is best for your child to move “up” a level than “down” a level. At AOD we screen all students using a “placement period” consisting of 1-4 weeks. This time frame allows us to determine the class level that is best for YOUR child. During this time frame instructs and AOD’s director will evaluate / observe your child’s dance ability, attention span and behavior demonstrated during class. Class placement is made at the Director's discretion, not by the student or parent.

Please note with dance classes it is NOT uncommon to spend 2-3 years in a grade gaining mastery. Also classes do not move up as a group, students move up based on there own individual needs & ability.

AOD “placement periods” are as follows:

Ages 3-5 start in the “Dancing Tots” class,
Ages 5-7 start in the “Sunstones” class
Tap, Ballet and or Jazz ages 9 and up for start in Sapphires class.
Hip Hop ages 8 & up start in Onyx I,
Tumbling ages 7 & up start in Power tumbling I
Contemporary/ Jazz class age 10 & up – Sapphires, Hip Hop I
Cheer Class ages 7 & up start in cheer class level
* Pre-placement auditions only determine the class your child will be in for the “placement period”.

Dancing tots Tuesdays 4:45 - 5:30: Creative movement using Pre ballet, pre tap, re tumbling. Attire: Tan Convertible Tights, Merilla Leotard “Buttercup” Color, Black Tap Shoes, “Peachy” Pink Ballet shoes
Sunstones Tuesdays 5:35 – 6:35 Beginning ballet & tap, basic tumbling, Attire: Tan Convertible Tights, Merilla Leotard “Buttercup” Color, Black Tap shoes, “Peachy” Pink Ballet shoes,
Cheer Class Level I Tuesdays 6:45-7:30, Basics cheer technique such as motions, jumps, cheers, and short dance routines. Attire: Dance leotard or FITTED shirt of choice, with FITTED shorts or dance pants. Dance Sneakers (can use ballets or jazz shoes)
Rubies Tap/Ballet Tuesdays 5:15 – 6:30 Intermediate to Advanced Ballet & Tap, attire: Tan Tights, Red Camisole Leotard by Capezio with adjustable straps Black “jazz” style Tap shoes, Pink Ballet shoes
Onyx Tuesdays 6:40 – 7:40 Hip Hop Level I Black short sleeve leotard any brand or fitted black shirt –Bottoms choose from: tan tights, sold black dance pants or dance shorts Preferred: Black Dance Sneakers Can use Black Jazz shoes or Ballets Shoes
Power Tumbling Wednesdays 5:30 – 6:30 level I & level II Light Blue Tank style leotard. Convertible or footless Tan Tights NO SHOES
Sapphires Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:45 Beginning to Intermediate Tap Ballet & Intro to Jazz Tan Tights Royal Blue Camisole Leotard by Capezio with adjustable straps, Black Tap shoes, Pink Ballet shoes & Black jazz shoes (can use black ballets)
Rubies Contemporary & Jazz Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:15 Intermediate to Advanced Jazz & Contemporary (a jazz lyrical Mix dance style) Red Camisole Leotard by Capezio with adjustable straps, tan tights Or FITTED Red Camisole / tank top with black dance pants or dance shorts. Ballet shoes or Jazz shoes
