Art of Dance is proud to announce we have implemented a program for low income and hardship families. Art of Dance has a great staff that all fall in to a select group of dance instructors. They teach because they love to teach the art of dancing. We feel that all children who want to learn dance should have the opportunity to do so even if financial situation of their parents prevent them from doing so. This program has an application process to see if a student can qualify. The application does have a gross income guide line however all applications are judged on a case by case basis. Also once a student is in this program they will have to follow strict guidelines and regulations to continue to receive the reduced tuition fees. This program is now accepting applications.
At this time does not have any out side funding. Meaning Art of Dance does not get reimbursed from any outside agency to cover the portion of tuition parents can not afford to pay.
Applicants need to understand that this program only applies to tuition cost. Any other cost (e.g. costumes fees, performance fees and event fees) will still need to be paid in full if a student decides to perform any event out side of the class room. Students will also be responsible for the cost of dance shoes and dance attire. Please note that participation in all performances and events are optional. Art of Dance will make every effort to help reduce event and performance cost if possible to students in the low income and hardship program.
Also a reminder that this years performance is a non- costume recital so the cost of full costumes will not be in affect this year.
We are in the process of trying to find an agency to help cover the performance and event cost for students in the low income and hardship program.
The numbers of low income and hardship tuition rate participants are limited based on the number of regular paying students in the class. There must be at least 5 students of regular pay for a class to accept low income and hardship tuition. However again this is a case by case basis.
Some factors used to determine if a student will qualify include but are not limited to: Applicants must also show proof of the following:
- Income: includes money from work / job, child support, FTAP, unemployment, SSI, and other national, state and local befit programs.
- Number of family members in the house hold.
- Medical expenses (for long term illnesses)
- Mortgage / rent payments
- Electricity bills
Rules and regulations for students and parents to follow if they are on the low income.
- Attendance to classes and practices are mandatory.
- Good behavior at all times
- On time for every class
- Must be prepared for class (e.g., approved dance and attire and shoes for class)
The following actions may be grounds for termination from the low income & hardship program.
- More than three unexcused absences in a two month period
- More than two tardies in a one month period
- Acting up in class
