HANDS ON HIPS, SMILES ON FACES!!!

Owners, Instructors and all staff at Art of Dance believe:

  • Everyone who wants to learn to dance should be able to regardless of age, gender, natural ability, level of experience or even financial situations.
  • Classes should be designed not only for the average age of the students in each class but also for the level of experience and level of ability of each student.
  • There needs to be a “beginning, intermediate and advanced” level dance classes for all ages.
  • Learning to dance should be fun and at the same time structured to the disciple of dance.
  • Dancers come in all shapes, sizes and ages.
  • Each class is and individual family, and students in each class need to work together to accomplish their class goals.
  • Students need to always give their best and dance in class as if they were on stage.
  • While ability to master dance technique is important to a good performance, the effort, confidence, energy and body language displayed by the students while dancing is even more important.
  • Dancing helps to develop social skills & improve self-esteem.
  • Students gain a since of accomplishment with every dance step that is mastered and with every performance they give.
  • Children who actively participates in a  well developed extra curricular activity gets more out of their childhood and life
  • Because students perform in front of an audience it will help them with other life situations that involve bingeing “center of attention” so to speak. For example; Interviews for jobs and schools, Public Speaking, and debits just to name a few.
  • Parents can use participation in dancing and or performances as a reward for children who try to do their best in academically at school.

Art of Dance is relatively a young dance school. However our staff brings many years of dance and teaching experience.

Like with any business money profits are an issue, however Art of Dance was not founded based on a way to make money.   The owners as well as all the instructors love to dance, and are devoted to teach the art dancing. Our most important profit is the enthusiasm, hard work and energy each student brings with them to each class and every performance.  The joy our staff gets to see each student and every student shine while performing and the confidence showing in every student’s smiling face means more to us than any amount of money.

Our classes are held at the Comeaux Center and Robicheaux Center.  Don’t let our location fool you.  We are a “real” dance school.  The technique and dance experience student’s gain at Art of Dance are the same at any other dance school.

Art of Dance was contacted by an agency building a strip-mall in Youngsville wanting us to move our school to their location.   We choose to say with the City of Lafayette’s Parks and Recreation for many reasons.  The city charges us a percent of all tuition to utilize the rec. centers for our classes.  This ensures us that we can always keep our fees low and affordable.  Not to mention the percent of tuition money that the City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation receives from us helps the city keep the recreational centers and parks open for the public.

Many dance schools get most of their profits on their performances though performance fees and costume fees.  Art of Dance charges only for the actual cost to put on the performance and the cost of the costumes and shipping.

We do not require any dance to participate in any performance however we highly recommend performing.  This allows them to show family and friends what all there hard work has accomplished.

All our students work hard the entire dance year and have earned a dance participation award that is presented to them on stage at the end of the year performance.

Individual awards are given for Star Dancer / Tumbler, Hardest worker, most improved. These awards are the hardest for our staff.  We use many factors to determine which students deserve these awards, dance ability and technique mastered is a factor but also determination, effort, confidence, energy level displayed, attendance and attitude are also used.

We also reward students with an award for perfect attendance

We at Art of Dance are always finding ways to improve our school and ways to offer dance classes to everyone.  If you know a child who wants to dance and loves to dance but their parent’s financial situation can not afford tuition cost please know Art of Dance has a low income tuition rate program.
